LinkedIn Smackdown

For my WebTool Smackdown I will be presenting LinkedIn, a social networking application and website aimed at professionals. LinkedIn is one of the most used networking application especially among professionals looking to connect and collaborate with others. Users can take advantage of their many tools that they offer. This includes job search for both an employee and employer, messaging system, news feed and an online portfolio! You are able to update your account and portfolio quickly and efficiently through this app and this will allow for potential collaboratives to stay up to date with who you are as a professional and your goals.

I have personally seen the tool work great for professionals. A colleague and fellow student was able to land her dream internship solely through connections on LinkedIn. She maintained a professional profile and made authentic and trusting relationships with the professionals she connected with.  The persistence and upkeep of her profile led to a great recommendation from one of her connections and she found herself in her dream internship! LinkedIn is one of the many great online tools to take advantage of as a learner and educator.
